We had a quarrel and I let myself go
I said so many things, things he didn't know
And I was oh oh so bad
And I don't think he's comin' back, mm mm

FCBFCSA 1 Rochdale 2

One Bees Two Blues

Missing talisman Tony Fenton, and stalwarts Andy Cozier, Jamie Loveday, and Keith Doe FCBFCSA finished one goal shy of Rochdale, in a game refereed by debutant first teamer Christopher Emery. Emery, was such a good sport, despite provocation from one of the O'Driscoll brothers, the one who was also Mike in the young ones.

The young Bees side, played against a very experienced Rochdale side with more games under their belt. The game saw Andy Cosier alongside John Hunt on the touchline. As a qualified coach, FCBFCSA now have a double act at the helm, harking back to days of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor.

The bees played some lovely football at times, and with a bit more confidence in front of goal could have come out on top. Sometimes as Craig Clayton pointed out Barnet might need to be a little bit more direct.

The starting line up was Ryan Barney, Ross Clark ( who played a blinder on his return, with some solid tackling, working hard for his teammates), Adam Martin (debuting for the ill Jamie Loveday), Oliver Minton and Dan Flitney (both making welcome returns). Across the midfield were Simon Sav Alavi, (who went off midway through the first half dazed after a collision with the keeper - he didn't know who he was, but wouldn't believe the management when they said he was Maradona as they tried to put him back on) Gerry Currell, Silvio Gradoni, and Matt Dodimead ( who made one great goal-line clearance in a fine performance). Up front were Craig Clayton and Darren Chillingworth.

Neil Blackerby came on for Alavi in the first half, and there second half cameos for Robin Goldman, Frodo, and Benjamin Kentish (FAC - still not 100% fit).  The game was very tight, and the Bees made fewer substitutions than in the past to maintain their shape , which was much better than against Hendon.

Barnet took the lead in the first half when Craig Clayton, won the ball, which was seemingly a lost cause. Two scrappy goals to concede turned the game in Rochdale's favour. It could have finished all square but Silvio Chris Waddled (or should that be Baggioed) a penalty as the game went into stoppage time. Silvio, i'm sure brother-in-law would tell him, it happens to the best of 'em.

The team spirit in the camp is very good to see. They were willing to fight for each other, and after only two games together this is impressive. A few hard challenges early on, words of encouragement onfield, and coming to the aid of stricken teammates all illustrate this.

A second half melee ensued when Oliver Minton was alleged to have elbowed the Rochdale Centre Forward. The forward right hooked, Minton, and goalkeeper Ryan Barney rushed to the halfway line to confront the centre forward and defend his stricken team-mate.

The Barnet Management had to run on the pitch to calm things down. Cosier, a qualified referee was able to advise Emery how to proceed in the best interests of the game.

Hopefully Ryan's hand is better from when is collided with the opposition centre forwards head. It would be unfortunate to see a fine keeper getting injured in this way.

Afterwards the manager said " Our next fixture is at Wycombe, but i hope to have many more in the new year. We have a big squad and realise that not everyone can play every game. It would be nice to have a nucleaus of a team, that are regulars with cover in each position. I will ensure that everyone gets ample gametime in the future, but not everyone can play every match."

The game marked Barnet's first appearance in the internet supporters league, that comprises 77 potential fixtures for our side ranging from Celtic to Inter Milan.

Craig from Rochdale was complementary about Barnet's performance, and thinks they will do well in the league.

The game was played straight after a stirring performance from BFCYSA would beat local rivals Stevenage in a thrilling penalty shootout. BFCYSA players will be knocking on the door of the senior side before long. The continuing form of Joel Ramos has alerted the management, and it surely can't be long before he gets a call up to the senior side.
